Guess what is the most sold mirrorless camera of the year in Japan: The Nikon J1!

BCNranking published the full mirrorless camera sales data from January 1st til December 24th. And at least for me it’s a real surprise to see that the Nikon J1 was actually the most sold mirrorless camera in Japan!
When you think that on Internet most of the talk is about the Micro Four Thirds or NEX system than this is an unexpected success for Nikon.

Another surprise is to see the OMD and NEX-7 on position 11 and 12 only. The cheaper entry level models are on top of the ranking. Not the more expensive cameras.

There is no such detailed rankings in other countries. You can if you want check the Amazon rankings. But these are not real indications of a long term camera popularity as they change a lot depending on the running deals: – Mirrorless camera ranking at Amazon US (Click here)

The compact roundup: Canon 18-70mm f/2.8-6 and Fuji X20.

Egami (translation here) spotted a new lens patent that describes that could be possibly fit on the next G1X successor. The 18-70mm f/2.8-6.0. But while we can never trust patents to show us the real final specs of a product the rumors about the new Fuji X20 seems to be much more solid. According to Fujirumors the X20 specs are the following:
– New EXR CMOS 2/3 14MP
– Fujinon 24-120mm F1.8-2.8
– continuous shooting up to 10 frames per second
– Full HD videos 1080*1920
– maximum ISO 12.800
– 460.000 pixel screen and optical viewfinder
– expected launch: January

And as you know there is also a new X100 successor on the horizon…

Tamron patent discloses a new 300mm f/2.8 for Full Frame mirrorless camera.

Egami (translation here) spotted a new Tamron patent describing a 300mm f/2.8 lens for a Full Frame mirrorless camera system. As you know Sony Corporation maintains an 11% share hold in Tamron (Source: Wikipedia). So this lens may be designed for FF NEX cameras…

P.S.: Tokina just admitted that The Kenko 400mm f/8.0 lens for Sony E-mount has a defect on the shutter. You should contact Tokina to exchange the lens (Source: DC.watch).
